Giselle Bonilla

I am a Afro-Taína/Arawak healer, community leader, and advocate. I am the co-founder and executive director of Time of Butterflies, an organization dedicated to creating healing spaces for our women in Boston, MA through workshops, events, and community gatherings. Believing that true healing happens in community.

I am also the founder and executive director of Centro Bonilla, a nonprofit in Kiskeya (Dominican Republic) that offers holistic mental health services to communities in Bonao, and beyond. In addition, I run my online private practice as a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in the state of Massachusetts, Pure Medicine | Holistic Therapies, where I integrate trauma-informed care with ancestral wisdom, cultural knowledge, and spiritual healing. My work is rooted in the belief that the mind, body, and soul are deeply interconnected, and true healing comes from nurturing all three and connecting with mother earth (Madre Atabey, Pachamama) or healing our relationship with mother earth.

I know that I was put on this earth to guide, support, be of service to others in their healing journey by guiding them to connect more with themselves and their ancestral roots and become more aware of healthier ways of living on earth while fulfilling their life purpose. We often hold a lot of unprocessed trauma (personal trauma, collective trauma, and intergenerational trauma) in our bodies without realizing how much of an impact it has on our organs, interaction with our environments, relationships, and our nervous system. I am here to support you in improving your own self-awareness, and to heal the connection between your mind, body, and soul.

Mind, Body and Soul

Explore sound healing, reiki, psychotherapy (talk therapy), earth/ancestral practices (connecting with the earth heals your nervous system), movement, asanas, your ancestral history and more in your therapy sessions. It is important to understand the connection between the mind, body, and soul in order to truly know what we need during our healing  journey. What we need may look different mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. What the mind experiences it manifests within our body, the body feels, our nervous system gets affected and ultimately it affects our life force (solar plexus), our soul.

We are not just our mind, and we are not just our body, we are both, and they both work together to help us understand and experience the world.
